From the Commanding Officer
REGIMENTAL HQ – MONTREAL. A quieter month, and a welcome one. After the pace of June, July has given the regiment, and me, a chance to catch our breath.
The highlight of the last month was undoubtedly our audience with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on the 23rd of June. I have written a detailed account of our time with His Majesty below, but I will simply say here that walking into a room with the King of Canada, who was wearing our regimental tie, remains one of the great honours of my life. It was a particular privilege to present His Majesty with our regimental history book, years in the making, a work His Majesty himself dedicated early in the writing process.
Closer to home, I want to recognize the quiet, sustained work of our Family Division led by Raldali Pierre-Hinkson, who has now packed over a dozen care packages for our deployed members. This is exactly the kind of work that holds the regimental family together while our soldiers are overseas. Thank you, Raldali.
I also want to welcome and congratulate our newest infantry soldiers, Pte Ngo, Pte Philips, Pte Downey, Pte Camacho-Rodrigues, and Pte Kantas, on completing RQ Infantry 2602. Well done all.
Looking ahead, our Pipes and Drums are headed to Maxville to compete at the Maxville Highland Games, while the regiment will be representing at the Montreal Highland Games on 2 August.
Behind the scenes, work continues on our armoury renovations, and we are crossing our fingers that they will be complete before the fall training year begins.
Thank you, as always, to the regimental family for your continued support.
