New Year's Levée

Start 2027 with the Watch.

For the first time in many years, all three Black Watch Messes will open their doors together for New Year’s Levée, welcoming the entire Regimental Family, friends and members of the public to the Armoury.

Friday, 1 January 2027
1000–1500 hrs
The Black Watch Armoury
2067 Bleury Street, Montreal

The New Year’s Levée is one of Canada’s oldest traditions—a chance to exchange New Year’s greetings, renew old acquaintances and make new ones in a convivial atmosphere.

The tradition in Canada dates back to 1646, when the Governor of New France hosted the first recorded Levée. Nearly four centuries later, we are proud to continue that tradition at the Black Watch.

This year will be particularly special as the Officers’ Mess, Sergeants’ Mess and Junior Ranks Mess will all participate, bringing the Regiment together under one roof to welcome the New Year.

Serving and former members, associate members, families, friends, guests and the general public are all warmly invited. Bring your family, bring a friend, and come raise a glass to the year ahead.

Dress

Military: Levée Dress (Doublet, full diced hose and gold tassels) or CAF DEU No. 1
Civilian: Jacket & tie, suit or equivalent dress

Whether Levée Day has been part of your New Year’s tradition for decades or this will be your first time through the Armoury doors, you are welcome at the Watch.

Old friends. New faces. Three Messes. One Regiment.
